Well it is time for a new challenge over at A Vintage Journey and our talented host this time is Astrid. The theme for her challenge is A Little Bit French. I decided to go for Springtime in Paris and for me that evokes feelings of romance and what better excuse that to have a play with some new goodies to create a collage style piece, using soft colours and hopefully a hint of vintage romance.
So here is my make : ( I have now added wire to the top to turn into hanging)
So I started by covering the base in some of my much loved paper from French Industrial paper stack..oh wow I need more! I used a piece with the Eiffel Tower on and then trimmed and edged with walnut stain DI.
I mean the paper is cool by itself! but inspired by Kaz Hall's wonderful layered pieces I went for it...I started by creating some stamped tags that will form part of the background...
and I also took apart a mini cabinet card and scuffed it up, using my sanding block. I added a photo from Tims found relatives and trimmed off the side to use as another layer.
so for the base layers :
I added some trellis framework die, die cuts (oh I love these framework dies), some ephemera and also the stamped tags, layering up I also added the leftover part of the found relative card as the backs are fab too.
I added a quote stamped from new stamp set and added some more idea-ology, film strip, tissue tape and a word band.
This is sooo delicate and beautiful Trace! The subtle backdrop is a wonderful way to set all the other layers off...and so good that you can still see the Eiffel Tower after all the layers were added :) Dot x
Absolutely stunning Trace, I love how you have layered all the different stamped pieces up! Adding the scuffed up bit of the cut off photo looks so cool too, great idea! This piece is both grungy and delicate/romantic, - love it, it's gorgeous!!
Trace....your french layout is lovely. I love all of your layers...beautifully done. Your creams and white as your predominant colors for this piece work perfectly with the found relatives wedding photo. I also love the use of Tim's cabinet card here! The touches of black from Tim's trellis die cut are also great little touches. <3 Candy
Trace, you have captured French romance beautifully! Love the tags and layers and subtle coloring. The found relatives look fabulous in the cabinet card. Lovely project! Enjoy the weekend. Hugs!
I love this, Trace!! It puts me in mind of a vintage writing desk with paper & envelopes scattered around, half written letters ready to post & the pen has run out of ink. That paper is stunning!!
Your card is a vintage French inspired masterpiece, Trace!! I love how you distressed the top layer of the cabinet card for the photo. They look a bit too shiny and new for vintage projects and I was recently brainstorming on how to age them up. So pretty and shabby! Hugs, Nancy
So lovely and vintagey and Frenchy. Loved all the layering. I want to get my hands on those framework dies - but as per usual - we dont have them in the country yet - grrrrr.
Fabulous and oh so French Trace yet your wonderful colour combination as well. I love the stamped tags and the way they are all layered to show everything to perfection. Just fabulous xxx

What a wonderful wall hanging! I am such a chicken when it comes to using blacks and creams in my projects, but you have done it so beautifully! This piece is so full of energy and life and I love the sense of history that you created with the photo and pen nib. It made me want to jot a few notes myself for future generations! I also really liked the trellis framework and how it pops against the background. Beautiful work and it was really a pleasure to see!
Beautiful! I am in love with how you layered the tags! Makes me miss Paris! Now I need a glass of red, baguette and a lot of cheese!
