A time for peace

Well here is my offering for Linda's fab 12 tags of Christmas, where phew ...the deadline is now 8th January to include two more bonus tags ... Now this tag was made whilst my thoughts were elsewhere and I wanted to try and capture a serene and peaceful feel to my tag...

On the 9th December my Grandad , whom I loved so very much was at last at peace...and was very much in my thoughts when I made this .... (So may your star shine brightly and may you be at peace .xx ). 

So without further ado here is Linda's gorgeous tag and here is mine, I have changed the colour palette but stayed fairly true to the main elements of the layout :

I started by creating my background using pumice stone and brushed pewter distress stain and dabbing around until happy. then in some places I stamped some small music in places using the brushed pewter distress stain.

I then stamped the Angel in black soot as Linda had placed her..and I edged the tag in silver embossing powder and also added this great flourish at the top and bottom (from reindeer flight stamp set).

For the noel, I cut from greyboard and coloured using the brushed pewter distress stain, then added a layer of glossy accents, when totally dry I added a few bits of the flourish element and embossed with silver..

So for the flower I coloured with distress stain , from craft sheet and added a star for the centre to tie in the small stars on the tag..I also stamped over petals with music.

I also added a frosted snowflake, using distress glitter , no surprise there then!, some twirls of silver wire and a couple of leaves overstamped and embossed with silver.

very  very different to Linda's but definitely inspired by her tag

I was inspired by the flower and the wonderful embossed background..

 

so I embossed white snowflakes ..

and the inked in areas to create a different background...don't do this often and

left some tag uninked!!! and found I liked it!!!

to loose rock candy glitter

I haven't used a smidge...

and I am not shaking!!!

 

I added my new fav Tim flourish to the corners,

a fabric flower..crinoline..

 

some idea-ology

and voila!

 

right I am away to sprinkle some rock candy glitter onto something!!!

oh it is fab

have I said..so frosty and non glittery...love it!!!

well here I am with tag no 11, second post today..

for the lovely Lindas 12 tags of 2012

so here is mine:

 

 

again very different, but inspired by the flower, the script, the flourishes

and the holly leaves..

 

I started by clear embossing the flourishes,

inking with iced spruce..

did I say I love this colour!

 

then stamping script in same colour...

 

 

the flower the tattered poinsettia die was cut,

stamped with script and lightly inked

I added holly leaves inked, script stamped and triple embossed..

and some leaves cut from clearly for art and shaped..

ooo...and some wire twirls

 

 

 

finally some dyed seam binding, a little bell centre

some lace and idea-ology token...

 

I have loved these one to go..

feel sad but have had a ball

 

and no rock candy distress glitter..

that's two makes in the day and none, not a sprinkle!

hey there, hope everyone is getting along well with their festive preparations,

 Santa has been working overtime here for our children..

and phew his work is slowly getting done!

I am new to this and have loved every moment!

even if I was a late starter....

I used a different colour palette, but was inspired by the brickwork and the flowers

I coloured the brickwork, and clear embossed some areas

adding layers of colour

 

 

 

the flowers are snowflakes, stamped in iced spruce

layered with kraft glassine holly leaves covered in...

rock candy distress glitter

with mini kraft flowers

and mini brads

 

 

a few wooden stars

and twirls of rusty wire

complete my tag

i have 3 more tags for the funkie junkies 12 tags 2012..to make all 12..

so here is my tag no 9:

 

 

I have taken my inspiration from Linda's fab background and the hanging stars..

which I have used stars and hung mine from the bottom of the tag

 

so I created the background of the tag in similar style to Linda..

and added twirls of wire

some snow letters..covered in weathered wood distress embossing powder

( Michelle sent me these ta buddy!)

 

 

the snowflakes had a sprinkling of embossing powder

and little wooden stars for centres..

hanging off spiral wire

 

 

finally some ribbon and lace

and a fab Tim ideaology snowflake..

my tag no 8 for the funkie junkies 12 tags of christmas 2012

hey there and thanks to everyone who has taken the time to stop by

 and be part of my creative journey..

well here I am with another tag ..no 8. for the funkie junkies twelve tags of Christmas 2012.

so here is mine :

( mine is very different this time)

 

 

my inspiration came from Santa and the wonderful flower with bingo token centre..

 

I started by stamping this fab little star in clear and clear embossing then

inking tag in brown DI, and spritz and flick ..

and roughening edge with tonic tool and inking.

 

this fab Santa component stamp is stamped on sticky back canvas.

lightly inked around the edges

 

 

I added kraft snowflakes with wooden star centres.

got a bit of a thing about these stars!!!

 

 

I added crochet lace to continue the neutral and natural colours and feel..

finally a flower cut as Linda's..cut from unbleached calico

and the centre a rusted bingo piece..

could I find no 25.....NO!!!!

 

 

not at all like Linda's but definitely inspired by many elements of her tag..

just couldn't do red sorry!!!!

 

p.s guess what?.. I did it!!! I made a tag with NO rock candy loose glitter!!

have shocked myself!!

for this tag I took my inspiration from Linda's background

and the reindeer's.

 

I have only used this faux kraft suede a couple of times but am amazed by it

so soft and tactile ..amazing Tim technique..

I stamped some snowflakes in clear and covered in sticky embossing powder

and loose rock candy glitter for an icy sparkle

 

I also covered mine with lots of picket fence to soften the colours,

and edged with walnut stain DI

 

 

I added some kraft snowflakes..covered in ..

yes you guessed,,loose rock candy

and little wooden star centres,,

 

my reindeer's Tim die cuts

from kraft, covered with picket fence

and stamped with little snowflakes..in iced spruce

 

 

some metal hearts, crochet lace and a stamped sentiment finish this off

for this tag

I stuck to my favourite blues, and iced spruce..

and was inspired by the tree and the embossed finish on the clock..

which I used on my snowflakes..

 

I liked the text background so covered my tag in tissue wrap.

and lashings of picket fence..

and a layer of thin rock candy crackle paint

 

note to self: remember to stick the text up the right way next time!!!!

 

 

now the tree was cut, coloured and

 

shh I had to cover it on rock candy distress glitter didn't I

oops and some fell on the flowers!!!

 

then I added snowflakes, inked

and embossed

then liquid pearl and fab winter foliage added for centres..

 

 

finally

a flower ..cant help myself!

and some seam binding coloured with DI

 well here I am again..

mine is very different this time...inspired by

 the natural elements and embossed panel

I used a snowflake embossed panel instead

and muted colours

 

 

I stamped the background with crackle stamp

oh and some sticky embossing powder and rock candy loose glitter crept in!!!

and snowflakes

 

 

added this beautiful angel

and sentiment from mini holidays set 4

 

to complete the natural feel I added some rusty wire..

and a flower made from kraft glassine

with a rusty bell centre

 

 

finally a rusty heart bound with rusty wire..

 

 

I found this tag a real challenge to start..

but am so pleased with the end result!
