Hello my Darling

So it has been a while but here is a tag I created using one of my vintage photos, texture paste and also plenty of distress crayons. 

I love this vintage photo and for some reason it make me think of my Grandad ...

I started by adding texture paste through a selection of Tim Holtz stencils. When dry I added a layer of collage medium so give a great surface to use the distress crayons on...

I then selected some collage elements to use on the tag. I inked the edges and also selected some idea-ology and a die cut heart that I inked and spritzed.

I placed them onto the tag to decide where to place them and added some collage medium and then some distress crayons..

And here is the finished tag ...I added some dyed seam binding, some staples from the mini attacher

I added the heart and word band at the bottom of the tag

I just love this photo and hope I have done it justice ...

live in the moment for Frilly and Funkie DT

Well it is time for the Funkie team to unveil their makes for this fortnights theme  for Frilly and Funkie DT and the theme has be chosen by the lovely Sue ...and is stencils and textures ..here are the details...  Stencils have become a firm favourite of mine and are really popular in the crafting world now.  So, for this challenge let's see you use your stencils on your projects but also lets see some texture too!  This can be embossing, texture paste or even fabric.  But most of all have fun!

You can combine our challenge with up to 10 challenges (including this one) to be in with a chance of winning. So I had so much fun playing...ahem ..I mean making this piece and here it is :

I wanted to add lots of layers and textures ...so here are some of the steps of how I got to the end.. I started with one of Linda's #10 tags from the boutique and applied some of Wendy's new crackle paste to some areas and then some of the clear paste through a Tim stencil..When dry I realised that it didn't quite have the effect I wanted ..so thinking cap time... I added some colour using distress ink and then applied some more of Wendy Vecchi crackle paste ...across the stencilled clear paste...and let it do its magic!

I love the soft crackle here , as a thin layer had been applied over the clear stencilled paste...and also here applied straight to tag 

I also added some weathered wood distress ink through the stencil in places and then edged in walnut stain distress ink...so layer one complete with tissue tape ...all done ...

Now for layer two...I used a #8 tag and applied white Wendy vecchi embossing paste through this fab prima stencil in areas...and then some crackle paste in areas...colouring with distress ink when dry...

Then I set too layering and embellishing the finished piece... I added a piece of corrugated card stock and then a little piece of card..with tissue tape layers and more crackle paste..then  a heart cut from Wendy's heart stencil..used as template and covered with glitter .and some rusty wire..

I added some idea-ology and one of the new idea-ology arrows wrapped in rusty wire.. some dyed seam binding and more idea-olgy.

At the bottom I added some of the new burlap and a word band tied on with more rusty wire..

thrilled to be guest designer for Simon Says Stamp and Show...anything goes

well to say I am thrilled and excited to be guest designer for Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge is a HUGE understatement...what an honour to have my piece amongst some super talented and hugely creative people of their design team... thanks May !

So here is my make for anything goes:

So as many of you know I love steampunk, distress, cogs, wire , idea-ology and playing with textures and of course yummy Tim Holtz distress products and dies...so I indulged myself by using lots of the things I love to create this hanging piece. ( hope you like it!). I started with lots of gear and mini gear die cuts which I glued to the mountboard. I also added some texture paste ( studio 490 black paste) through reverse chicken wire stencil.

 I painted this with verday paint (bronze)...and then set to work with treasure gold (white fire, brass, silver and onyxite) and adding some of the fab Tim Holtz rub ons...so love these. I love how the treasure gold highlights some of the texture from the layers below..and the rubs ons went onto this textured surface like a dream..

Next I got out some shrink plastic, which I die cut using gears die and then coloured with alcohol inks....now for fun ...I have never forgotten after followings Tim's tags that shrink plastic is so much fun in the melt pot...so I melted some clear UTEE and then put in my cog die cuts and they shrink and also get coated with yummy UTEE which gives them a really cool look..

I then added lots of yummy found treasures and also lots and lots of scrummy idea-ology..

I added lots of idea-ology and found pieces , to create textures and dimension around one of my favourite sayings ........well actually Tim has collected together lots of cool,ones but I do love this one!............ I also added some all watch parts in one of the idea-ology vials and added some glossy accents to seal the cork.

I also added some of my favourite steampunk gents from warehouse district set, stamped in black archival and coloured with distress inks in frayed burlap , broken china and edged with walnut stain...I do love these colours..I also used the flick and spritz technique.

More shrink plastic gears and idea-olgy...oh and a chit cat sticker coloured with distress. I added this cool pointing finger ...which is so useful..and guess what...more idea-ology....

playful purples for creative expressions DT

yes I did say and purple...and yes it is me! I have been playing with colour this week , again usng the floral silhouette set..and left my comfort zone of neutrals and browns behind...so here goes :

So i Started with a large ish piece of mountboard..for my hanging..Hels makes some amazing pieces combining this and corrugated card...which I must try and I love using this stuff...too..

I started by applying creative expressions texture paste ( white ) through stencils...script and mini dots. when dry I set to work with seedless preserves, picked raspberry and peacock feathers...almost scared myself when I pulled those colours off the shelf altogether but they blended beautifully and ended up looking a lot less scary! 

I then used faux bleach technique by spritzing water through this fab disco stencil..( forgot I had it!) I then set too with some background stamps..love this bubble wrap one, also chicken wire and also the flourish form the great floral sihouette set.
 

I then used the same inks to colour a piece of cardstock using wrinkle free distress technique and then cut out some lareg flowers using vintage floret dies and also inked up some butterflies.. I layered the flowers and adding little jingle bells for centres and added some wire twirls and the butterflies.
