I have this real thing going on for natural colours, textures and flowers at the moment..so decided to just play and see where this piece took itself. I started by mixing some frayed burlap distress paint (boy I love this colour!!) with some of the fab clear creative expressions texture paste... in the hope the clear paste would give a kind of kraft resist type feel..?!
I applied it through a script stencil and then when dry set to work playing with distress pints and water to create a very softly coloured background. I added frayed burlap distress ink to the edges and some stamping using picket fence and frayed burlap and stamps from the hugely versatile mixed media set from the one and only Tim Holtz. This built up some more subtle layers..hope you can see?!
I stamped the flowers from Wendy Vecchi set live and make art on the reverse of kraft resist cardstock...so when cut out you cannot see the stamped lines, I love the shape of these flowers! I inked the edges with vintage photo DI and added prima embellishment centres.
I added some torn corrugated card and some rusty wire...some rusty wire stems and there you have it...full of krafty yumminess!
