simon says ...inspired by water

well it a while since I have played due to my hand and other stuff..but I have been lucky enough to have a bit of playtime and inspired by the fun I had creating on corrugate dcard from an old box..i had another go for simonsaysstampand shows water theme .
so here is my make :

I started with a piece of corrugated box, cut and pulled some of the top layer off to reveal some of the corrugated texture. I then covered with a layer of slightly watered down gesso and then when dry applied studio 490 white embossing paste through the great mini confetti stencil.

If you look closely you can see little hearts in between the splats. Then onto the watery stuff. I spritzed the background with dylusions sprays in vibrant turquoise, calypso teal and white linen and lots of water and dripping later I was happy.

I then lay the stencil on in reverse and spritzed water through and then after a few seconds dabbed off to reveal white.

Hope you can see that? Then I edged with treasure gold in pewter. The heart was cut from corrugated card and painted with gesso, then I added some embossing paste. final this too was sprayed, watered and rubbed with treasure gold and a little twirl of wire.

Finally I added the sentiement from unity stamps..and some wire to hang it. I used lots of water in the making of this and somehow it has a kind of watery look to the finished piece..not that I planned that when I started!

one last picture..

watch the birdie

Over at Simon Says Stamp and Show this week the theme is metal-ology and even with a poorly hand (which I am now resting as Hubbie is typing this) I couldn't resist playing along. Thankfully most of my little bird was made before I was told I had to rest my hand a wear a splint for at least the next three weeks. Boo hoo!

Having tried one handed crafting today I now realise it is going to be a long three weeks!!!

So here is my metal tape meets distress paint birdie number 2. Details of number 1 (Bertie) can be found here.

So here she is:

I started by embossing metal DIY tape using my fab new Blueprints and Gears embossing folder and then cutting into pieces and covering the paper mache bird. When she was totally covered I set to colouring the foil tape with yummy weathered wood distress paint. When dry I spritzed with turquoise Perfect Pearls mist and then when dry brushed with treasure gold in pewter, sapphire and aquamarine.

I love the fact there are matte and metallic patches in various colours. To continue with the metal theme I added winter foliage for eyes.

I added some wire around her neck with a muse token and little heart.

For her feet I used pen nibs...

Finally for her wings and tail I stamper Creative Expressions Ruler Background designed by Sam Poole onto some pre-coloured card (weathered wood distress paint). Using black archival cut into strips curled and stapled to make wing and tail shape. Attached to bird using spare pieces of embossed and coloured metal tape. Because I couldn't resist I added some twirls of silver wire.

And one final photo:

playing with rust!..again...

well here is a rusty tag,
i made using techniques from the great online timeworn workshop by Andy Skinner.
despite not having time to do as much as i would have liked.
.this has been a great painty experience!
so the challenge over at Simon says is rust, so here is mine:

i loved the rust technique here on the heart and have played with it a lot,
this tag was made a while ago
but  think fits the challenge..

i added my fav wings , covered on old book paper
and inked,
some garden wire cut to size..

flowers made and coloured in rusty tones with alcohol inks

the sentiment was cut and coloured in alcohol inks too

and finally some lace to compliment the natural colours..
hope you like it?!

simon says be inspired by summer distress...and i was ..

well due to holidays it has been a while since i played along
until now...
so here is my summer distress inspired entry..
a large journal page ...

i would never use all these colours together in one place normally,
but was surprised
at how well i liked the finished blends of colour..

i started by making my own sprays using re-inkers and mini misters
and spritzing and blending..
then i layered on more colour suing
the summer DI and stencils..

to complete the background I added some dylusions leaves,
so LOVE these, with white highlights,
and  some faux bleaching...

Then onto die cuts, wings and dress forms and hearts are a must!
a bit of wire, some lettering and ..
there you have it!

simon says..what do you say?

well this tag was made a while ago
but i think fits the theme at SSSS
and i love this paperartsy sentiment, I love inspirational quotes on pieces,
although i do also leave pieces with no words on occasions..
to let them speak for themselves!
So here is my double sided tag:
I decide to use very soft colours for this piece, using crackle paint as the basis for the tag,
I then lightly inked the edges
front and back of the tag are the same.
I added floral trim lightly coloured
with distress satin
some beautiful
 paperartsy butterflies,

an ideaology pearl and some mini keys
and finally this wonderful sentiment

it is funny how you go through spells of vibrant colours
and then i tend to monochrome creations..
which always amaze me as to how much can be created
with limited colours..
next well i will probably be bright and vibrant again..who knows..
thats what i love!never knowing quite what you will create!

wake your dreams

well i have been having some inky playtime in my journal...i have used some summery colours and a range of stamps, gel pens, perfect pearls mist and more! so here are my pages :

i spritzed, stencilled ,stamped and doodled to create these pages and added two quotes..wake your dreams from Andy skinner plate and .. a life without dreams is just a life, from dylusions. i added some doodling in a black glaze pen and then when totally dry spritzed the page with perfect pearls....

rather bright in real life..but summery..
I used all sorts of stamps and just enjoyed playing!!
not sure if you can see the shimmer here, it makes the glossy parts stand out in certain lights..but i am no photographer!

simons says layered....

well here is my piece for Simon says stamp and show layered challenge..still stuck in my bright phase at the moment!!!so here is my tag:
I decided to build my layers with ink stencils, water and then add dimensional layers.....I started spritzing the background, adding inks spritzed through the stencil, the faux bleaching technique, from the super talented Dyan , love this..
Then i added a layer of stamping..i am still loving the contrast with the bright dylusions inks and the archival black stamped images.

The next layer was a stamped wendy vecchi image from its face art.. i am so loving this image so not me and yet i so love it!!!! maybe its another side to me..

To complete i added glossy accents to her lips, a crown ( Tim's winged heart die ) stones, floral trim dyed and crystal glitter added, black soot around the edges and finally believe word..

one for the boys at simon says stamp..

......
Well I love all things steampunk and have used my favourite Tim stamp,to make a dad tag.
so here it is :

I started by embossing the tag using this fab new embossing folder, colouring with black soot and then adding pewter gleam, a craftynotions wax type product that adds a sheen.I added cogs , coloured in same way into corners of the tag and added washers to the centres, also to the whole at the top of the tag.

The image is the fab steampunk guys , stamped in archival, I then coloured the  card in pumice stone and black soot and then used a water brush to remove some of the colour from their faces. The ticket was coloured in same way.
I added some ideaology and a little bottle full of watch parts and some string to add to the manly feel,oh and dad letters!
