in the deep blue waters of the ocean..for dragons dream DT

well it is going to be a two post day today as my Dt commitments have now clashed so this will be one of two posts.......this is my post for dragons dream DT and will be back later with my post for frilly and Funkie DT. So the dragon has been dreaming again and the lovely Sue has dreamed up our recipe this week..so remember you have to create a tag and use at least on real stamp.
So the recipe is blue, sea an stencils....
so here is mine:

The thing I love about these recipes is they challenge me to do things I would never dream of doing and I find I usually surprise myself with the end results!

So blue well I love that, sea...umm more tricky and stencils well that was fine too..now to combine all three.  I started by creating some texture using studio 490 embossing paste in white through a fab craters workshop stencil..mini confetti. When dry I also applied some rock  candy through the same stencil...an idea from the brilliant Hels .When this was dry I painted some distress satin in broken china through the crackles.

I then used stains smooshed into my craft sheet and dragged tag through this spritzed stains, drying and the reapplying until I was happy with the colour and splotchy texture created.

I then scared myself and inked up my new Lynne Perrella Stamp from a win over at Paperartsy..and stamped onto tissue ( never done this properly before.) I added colour using stains on reverse so as not to loose detail. Then glued to tag using multi matte medium and also applied a layer over the top.

Finally the sea, created by stapling some dyed seam binding..

a bit different for me..

so make you you pop across and maybe even dream with the dragon..

have a fun and inky day!
see ya later with my post for Frilly and Funkie DT

life doesn't have to be perfect..

well here I am, Saturday afternoon having not really had as productive a crafty time as I would have liked but having finally got around to making a small entry for this weeks inspired by challenge over at PaperArtsy.
So this week we are to be inspired by the colourful makes of my crafty bud Michelle. So here is mine, not a lot of colour but inspired by the layers of painty stamping and stuff:
(stuff is a technical term..didn't you know!?, used by me when I cannot put my finger on exactly what I want to say....!)
so here is my make to be linked up the paperArtsy blog here:

I started with a mini screen and painted it with chocolate pudding, cool name for paint eh!? Then when dry I layered on some crackle medium nice and thin. When dry ( okay I cheated and dried with my heat gun ). Then I added some nougat ( a really yummy colour...one of my favs, ) using cut 'n' dry foam. Then I went to town with my sanding block and scuffed the edges.

Then I stamped the sentiment and heart onto crackly tissue paper, using coffee archival. I glued them on using multi medium matte.

I then set too layering stamping using iced coffee and nougat paint and also vintage photo and gathered twigs distress inks. I used a variety of stamps: HP 1204, 1004 EZ and MN 62. the main heart was from HP 1217 EZ.

I added some idea-ology and some rusty wire and then edged the screen in treasure gold, onyxite.

Finally I added some shrink plastic hearts, stamped onto clear shrink plastic using coffee archival.

well thanks for stopping by, I am linking this up to the paperartsy inspired by challenge.

have a fun and inky one!

a walk on the wild side..

well when I say a walk on the wild side
..more a dipping my toe in the ocean of colour and..
well seeing what happens..
(while my love will still be soft and shades and muted tones ..)
so inspired by my great painty buddy Michelle..i embraced ..paint...and colour.. I know!
I have not used such colour for ages...
 and here is the result!

(please be gentle this painty stuff is new to me and I am learning ...slowly!)

well Michelle is the fab guest designer over at the paperartsy blog
She is doing an amazing job!!
...and I have succumbed to a few painty purchases..well then a few more..
and combined those with paperartsy stamps I already have...
(some new vintage ones did fall in the basket though..so more of those another day!!)

so I started with some fresco paints in mermaid and beach hut..
then when dry added some stamping in nougat
and in butternut squash.
then to distress a bit swiped some paint and wiped with a baby wipe..

when dry I stamped this great image from paperartsy in black archival

and this tag is also..
no distress...no embellishments!!!

the only distress is used was for the seam binding..love that stuff..
ooh and I added some new aquamarine treasure gold around the edges..

so let me know what you think!?
I will link this up here to paperarsty as they are asking for pieces inspired by Michelle..
and although I am a novice painty girl and not in her league..i tried!!

have a fun and inky one!

behind closed doors..dragons dream Dt piece

well this is a scheduled post for my dt make for dragons dream tag it on challenge
... the challenge this fortnight is behind closed doors..
and the ingredients are :
a lock,
a door,
 a key..
the only other thing you need to remember is make a tag and use at least one real stamp..
so here is mine :

I embossed the background using a Tim embossing folder
and the heat embossed with a mixture of distress embossing powders

I repeated heat embossing with a mixture of distress embossing powders of the cogs.

I cut out the  two heart shapes, inked
and stamped with mini cogs stamp from paperartsy

then cut a door in the front one and added onto second heart
and filled gap inside with glossy accents

the lock and key are charms
oh and some rusty wire

and stamped sentiment to complete..

hope you will have time to pop across here
and see the fab Dt entries and maybe play along!

playing with clockwork birds can be dangerous!

here i am today,
hopefully still enjoying fun filled Disney times
with hubby and the children!!
so here are two different double sided tags i made using the fab clockwork birds
stamps from paperartsy,
so here they are:

and the other one:

i decided to try and challenge myself to use the stamps in two similar but different ways..
in tag 1, i embossed the background, adding inky elements,
ideaology, the fab clockwork bird

and fab quote

in tag 2 , i used wrinkle free distress, stamping paperartsy cogs
and embossing with distress embossing powder,
the clockwork bird,
ideaoloy

and a little bottle full of old watch parts

thanks for stopping by,
will catch up with you soon,
have a fun and inky day!
hugs

simon says..what do you say?

well this tag was made a while ago
but i think fits the theme at SSSS
and i love this paperartsy sentiment, I love inspirational quotes on pieces,
although i do also leave pieces with no words on occasions..
to let them speak for themselves!
So here is my double sided tag:
I decide to use very soft colours for this piece, using crackle paint as the basis for the tag,
I then lightly inked the edges
front and back of the tag are the same.
I added floral trim lightly coloured
with distress satin
some beautiful
 paperartsy butterflies,

an ideaology pearl and some mini keys
and finally this wonderful sentiment

it is funny how you go through spells of vibrant colours
and then i tend to monochrome creations..
which always amaze me as to how much can be created
with limited colours..
next well i will probably be bright and vibrant again..who knows..
thats what i love!never knowing quite what you will create!
I am entering this for the following competitions:
what do you say? @ http://simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.co.uk/
have a fun and inky day!
