There is beauty in simplicity .. for Dragons Dream TIO DT

Well it is time for another challenge over at Dragons Dream TIO and this time the theme has been chosen by the lovely Gabrielle .. so without further ado..the recipe is : blue, music and tissue tape/tissue paper. Remember you need to make a tag and use at least one real stamp.

You may have to search hard for the music in mine but it is there...honest! So here is my make :

So I started with a corrugated piece of card and stuck this to a  large tag and then added some torn card on it. I then added texture paste through a stencil and coloured all the tag blue. I highlighted some areas with treasure gold.

For the main image I stamped in Distress ink and then used a waterbrush to pull out the colour. I layered this on pieces of dyed cheesecloth to create a soft and gentle feel....Can you spot the tissue tape and music?

The sentiment was stamped in Distress and clear embossed...both are from Artistic Outpost set..

So make sure you pop across to the blog here to see my fab team mates makes .

have a fun and inky day!

come fly with me for Dragons Dream TIO DT

Well this fortnight the lovely May has chosen the recipe for Dragons Dream TIO and so all you have to do is make a tag, using at least one rubber stamp and include the ingredients : Time, Orange and Nature.

So here is my make :

Inspired by using a brayer to create backgrounds with distress stains from Tim's tags here ...I decided to use this technique to create this background. I also brayed some picket fence distress stain over the colour when dry. The base colour was spiced marmalade Distress Stain. When dry ( I blasted with heat tool ) I over stamped with some text script using Spiced Marmalade Distress ink, in random places on the background.

For the time element and nature parts I stamped this gorgeous image from Oxford Impressions set, The Bird's Nest and coloured using Distress Ink and my waterbrush. I then added some of this fab clock die cut to put the image into.

I never really use orange unless it is for Halloween but love the rich seam binding colour and liked the soft effect with lots of water That was created by lots of spritzing for the flowers. (using tattered floral die).

I also added some curled flowers , not perfected these at all yet, and some leaves and twigs from Autumn gatherings strip die.

Some dyed seam binding finishes the top of the tag...and no idea-ology in sight!? I know ..think I might be shaking a little at that thought!PLenty of Distress goodness though..

Make sure you pop across and see my fab team mates makes here  and hopefully make a tag and join in the fun x

have a fun and inky day!

dream of being more ..........for Dragons dream TIO DT

well it is time for another recipe over at Dragons dream TIO and the talented Silvia  has chosen the recipe this time, so you must make a tag, use at least one real stamp and the ingredients below. The ingredients are : waste/ rubbish, chipboard and male themed.
So here is my make : ( the rubbish is a piece of amazon box, chipboard numbers):

I started by cutting a piece of Amazon box into tag size and stripping off some of the top surface, I then set to work with distress paints in black soot and tarnished brass and then played around until happy.

Then I heat embossed in black detail embossing powder, the curiosity statement, I did this in a few places over the background.

I added these fab steampunk gents from Tim Holtz and sentiment, stamped onto cardstock and coloured with distress ink.

I used the spritz and flick technique and removed colour from their faces using my waterbrush. Now onto the embellishments, the chipboard numbers were from my stash and were given a coat of black paint. I added some film strip die cuts, lots of idea-ology..

I also played some more with glass bead texture gel to create these textured cogs..adding washers and fastners to the centre...they were painted and then brushed with treasure gold (white fire).

make sure you pop across and see my fab team mates makes and maybe pop in an entry yourself!

have a fun and inky day!

you are the hero for dragons dream TIO DT

well another fortnight has flown by and it is time for another recipe over at dragons dream TIO, this time the lovely Helen has chosen the recipe...which is paint, ribbon and a mask or stencil. Remember you have to make a tag and use at least one real stamp.

So here is my make :

well my love affair with the distress paints continue, they make the most amazing backgrounds and come in all the yummy distress colours as well as being amazing when layered with distress...LOVE them! can you tell? So I created a painty background using the distress paints in frayed burlap and antique linen . ( before doing this I used gold pearl texture paste underneath through ledger stencil)

When I had dried the background out came the stencil again and I applied some walnut stain through the stencil . I also stamped a stamp from the paperboy boy set from Artistic Outpost ( love this set and finally got it inky...lots!) randomly over the background, using vintage photo.

Then came the embellishing, I added quote from Paperboy set and cut it into pieces to place on the tag , placing one piece behind a fragment for definition.

The image was stamped in coffee archival and inked with distress, a waterbrush used to remove colour from his face. I added some torn on the edge notebook die behind as in my card yesterday...

Finally some yummy idea-ology, film strip (LOVE this too!)

and some seam binding/ ribbon dyed with distress stains.

well make sure you pop across here and see my team mates makes .

I am entering this for the following competitions:

going coastal for dragons dream TIO

well it is time for another recipe over at dragons dream TIO and this time from the lovely Elizabeth. The recipe this fortnight is : mica, coastal and a flourish....so all you have to do is make a tag using these ingredients and remember to use at least on real stamp.
So here is my make :
(now i may have stretched coastal a little...but here she is ):

So I struggled with this theme a lot! and decided to go down the sea kind of colours and create some textures too.. So I swiped some embossing dabber across some torn corrugated card and embossed using fab verdigris embossing powder. This became the base for my tag to be attached too.

The tag itself was spritzed using homemade mica sprays using distress re-inkers and perfect pearls mica powder in mini mister bottles. i then over stamped using this fab fancy flourish from Tim Holtz.

not sure if you can see the mica but I promise it is there! I also added some stamping using bubble wrap stamp..now onto the fun bit...

i wanted to create a watery effect and used my marvellous melt pot...now Hels has given me my melt pot mojo back..it has a permanent place on my spare desk...well the one i have kind of taken over...oops...and so it is always out and ready for the off! I melted some clear UTEE and then added some melt art colour ink to add a touch of blue...but as the clear ambered it went this yummy green...for which I can take no credit..

I drizzled some on to my craft sheet and left to cool and then had marvellous fun dunking my shells to give a hopefully watery feel?! well love the way their textures and colours are encased in this glossy globs anyway! (globs being a technical term for something I am sure!?)

a smattering of sand and some rusty wire and there you have it...make sure you pop across and see my fab team mates makes who have some amazing and much more coastal makes...

sorry this is late been at the hospital with James and will fill you in later x

have a fun and inky day!

seeing red for dragons dream DT

well it is time for another non-cooking over at dragons dream Tag it on and this time chosen by the lovely Helen. So the recipe this time is red, book pages and or text and an embellishment.
Oh and don't forget to use at least one real stamp, make a tag and most of all have some fun!!

So here is my make :

I have to admit is truggled with the whole red thing as it is not my usual colour...but i decided to go for it!! I used some of the fab Tim rub ons a s a resist inspired by Tims tag for May 2013....I also used some old torn book pages too. They soaked up the distress stain a treat.

I added some flowers, die cut and the over stamped with text to continue that theme and added flower embellishments for the centres. Some dyed seam binding finishes of the top.

I also added a heart covered with embossing paste through a text stencil and another fab rub on. well must dash...

have a fun and inky day

another tag for another daydream...dragons dream TIO DT

well it is time for another dragons dream challenge and this has been set by the lovely Gabrielle. So all you have to do is make a tag, use the recipe ingredients and at least one real stamp...so lets get cooking...crafty wise of course ( not great in the kitchen!!unless black is a good look!)
So the recipe is : white, transport and metal....

so here is mine :
So i started by adding metal DIY tape to my tag, embossing suing this fab Tim Folder...and then using Tims fab enamelled metal from Compendium of curiosities....love this look..This involves layering/swiping paint onto the tag , then adding clear embossing powder and heating...

The image is a Tim one Which I stamped and white embossed using detail embossing powder and added black distress ink using a waterbrush..

Now onto the fun bit the idea-ology and embellishing!! I added cogs...(I know you will be shocked!!!) wire (I know even more shocking!), film strip with rub ons on....some more yummy idea-ologyand some wings.

Finally some scrummy seam binding ...coloured with picket fence distress and black soot distress( watered down) to finish.
make sure you hope here to see the other fab makes form my team mates and also maybe dream with us..

have a fun and inky day!

wired for dragons dream TIO DT make

well is is time for another yummy recipe from dragons dream...and thankfully for me no cooking is required, as that could be nasty! (cooking is so not my forte so these kind of recipes are the ones I love!). So this fortnight the recipe is ..yellow, wires and light bulb. You must use at least one real stamp and make a tag...so have fun...
here is mine:

Now wire I love...and light bulbs ..cool but yellow and me are not the greatest of friends ..and yet I am so pleased to say I actually like my yellow tag! I started by embossing that tag with embossing folder and then colouring...with mustard seed distress. yikes! Then I covered in clear embossing powder and tapped some off, heated and then ribbed over with black soot....( if you ever need a lemon peel effect...this may be it.!)  I then set to work with the fab Blueprints lightbulb and added some wire for the filament.

The bulb itself was painted with waterbrush and mustard seed distress ink. I edged the torn section with a little black soot. Then onto lots of yummy idea-ology goodness...mini gears..have a bit of a thing for these!!

Then a light bulb, some more twirls of wire, a number plaquette, more gears and mini gears and a number stapled ...as I love that effect...

well make sure you pop across to dragons dream to see all the fab team mates pieces and maybe drop in a make yourself!

have a  fun and inky day!

every possibilty begins with courage..for dragons dream DT

Well it is a busy day as this is Dt post one of two for today...so I will try and keep this short and sweet. Over at Dragons-dream TIO the lovely Sylvia has chosen our recipe this week and it is ...to use brown, hands and vellum. The only other rule is to make a tag and use at least on real stamp. So here is my make :

So I started to create a brown inky background and layered lots of stamping in inks and distress paints...I love how these combine together to add another layer...these paints are yummy!

I then added some rusty wire net from the FunkieJunkieBoutique. I added this fab sentiment, a Tim one...and lots of rusty wire...did I ever say I love this ?!

Now for the vellum, I have to admit it is not something I use but I found some and made these flowers and added little clocks for centres.

Then I added my hands...they could be leaves or ticking clock hands?! I added lots of staples from my mini attacher...love thi too and a bow tied with seam binding dyed in lots of yummy brown distress colours.x

make sure you pop across to dragons-dreamTIO, to see the other fab DT makes and maybe pop in a dream yourself!

playing with ...wait for it...pink!?!

well here I am better late than never ..with my make for dragons dream DT. So this time the lovely Elizabeth has dreamt up our recipe and it is ..pink, a face and fabric. The only other rules are make a tag and use at least on real stamp...

So as most of you who stop by here often will realise pink is oh so not me or my colour and although my little Lucy (3) thinks pink is the best colour EVER!! I cannot admit to sharing here taste...give me brown and blue any day.. but do you know what I may have surprised myself..

So here is my make for toady:

So I started with a tag..(no really?!!)..and some yummy distress paints in Victorian velvet and picket fence..oh boy I love these paints!! When smooshed and sploshed and dried I added some stamping in distress paint and Victorian velvet ink using Artistic Outpost set Generation Redux.

I distressed the edge and coloured with Victorian velvet and the set to work adding the stamped image and sentiment ( from Artistic outpost set Think and wonder).

The fabric flower was cut from crinoline from the funkie junkie boutique and I added a resin flower embellishment.

The seam binding was tied in a double bow and had been coloured using distress inks. I love how seam binding just sucks up the colours and creates such beautiful softness and texture..love the stuff!

So make sure you pop along here to see the other fab DT makes, hope you find time to play along.

I would like to welcome my new followers and say thanks for taking the time to follow my crafty journey, I appreciate it...lots.

Thanks to everyone ..asking after James..he has done his first 3 mornings back and seems ok, tired but ok and I am thrilled that this may be the start of building him back up...fingers crossed.

I am entering this for the following competitions:

in the deep blue waters of the ocean..for dragons dream DT

well it is going to be a two post day today as my Dt commitments have now clashed so this will be one of two posts.......this is my post for dragons dream DT and will be back later with my post for frilly and Funkie DT. So the dragon has been dreaming again and the lovely Sue has dreamed up our recipe this week..so remember you have to create a tag and use at least on real stamp.
So the recipe is blue, sea an stencils....
so here is mine:

The thing I love about these recipes is they challenge me to do things I would never dream of doing and I find I usually surprise myself with the end results!

So blue well I love that, sea...umm more tricky and stencils well that was fine too..now to combine all three.  I started by creating some texture using studio 490 embossing paste in white through a fab craters workshop stencil..mini confetti. When dry I also applied some rock  candy through the same stencil...an idea from the brilliant Hels .When this was dry I painted some distress satin in broken china through the crackles.

I then used stains smooshed into my craft sheet and dragged tag through this spritzed stains, drying and the reapplying until I was happy with the colour and splotchy texture created.

I then scared myself and inked up my new Lynne Perrella Stamp from a win over at Paperartsy..and stamped onto tissue ( never done this properly before.) I added colour using stains on reverse so as not to loose detail. Then glued to tag using multi matte medium and also applied a layer over the top.

Finally the sea, created by stapling some dyed seam binding..

a bit different for me..

so make you you pop across and maybe even dream with the dragon..

have a fun and inky day!
see ya later with my post for Frilly and Funkie DT
