A pocketful of petals.

well over at Sunday stampers Hels really set us a challenge this week, being pockets!!yikes it I thought..so here is my pocket..full of petals...
I made my pocket using a small envelope covered in manilla card , so I could ink it and filling it full of flowers!

I distressed a frame..not sure where from sorry! The inside is kraft paper , coloured with picket fence and then DI.I wanted to keep to a vintage, neutral palette. I added flowers cut from sticky back canvas and clearly for art.. Using ....Wendy vecchi set.The spots are made using mini dot background from the artistic stamper. I added idea-ology cogs for centres...cannot help myself..think I am developing a cog obsession!!!!!

The stems are arts parts, as is the scalloped shelf, the roses a made from Tim papers using tattered floral overs and shapers die and a word band..(.love these) for good measure.
This was a challenge , I have to say and yet I Like my pocket full of petals!!!!and would never have made this if it had not have been for Hels!!!thanks.

Simon says depths of distress...

I LOVE distress and love the way the distress range can be layered, combined and played with and I love brown....have you noticed!!!
So here is my distress piece, in product and hopefully not design!
I started by creating the depth with many layers of masking using a cog die cut (as a mask) inking, moving and then re-inking,then moving and inking again.
I used my favourite vintage photo and a bit of walnut stain thrown in for good measure!!!Then I used a cog stamp I made using the technique in Tim's book page 66 of compendium of curiosities vol 2, I love that the dies can be so versatile to make die cut shapes, masks and even custom stamps!!! How cool,is that?!!
I blasted the tag with my heat gun and then distressed the edges using a distressing tool! Then added walnut stain distress ink.
Left the tag to dry for some time and then added patches of background stamp from mixed media plate, inked with embossing ink and sprinkled with walnut stain distress powder.I love the depth and this gives ..so touchy feely!
Finally I added some cogs, cut from the same die, from the fab ranger foil, embossed to using the rivet folder which I also LOVE!!!!!! And then I added espresso and pitch black paint dabbers and buffed off..i cannot stop making these cogs!!!
The focal image is from paperartsy, stamped in black archival and then inked using vintage photo and walnut stain. I then used a water brush to remove the colour from the gents faces and the words.
Finally I assembled the tag , folding the metal cogs over the image and sides of the tag! Then added some string tag top.

Happy bird-day dt piece for anything goes challenge

It is challenge time again at anything goes and the challenge this time is so far put of my comfort zone...it is polka dots and then birthday..so here is my piece...

I love dots but the birthday part put a tricky spin for me..not that i don't like birthdays , just do not usually put this on the front of cards...am i weird?!
Started by creating an inky background using dylusions sprays and stencils and using Dyans fab faux bleaching technique.
I added a stamped wire for mr birdie to sit on and as it is birthday time gave him a fetching party hat, with dots! Mr birdie was inked using black soot DI.
The sentiment is computer generated and the banner is made from more dylusions stamps , cut out and highlighted with White gel ink pen.
Please pop over here and see the fab pieces that my team mates have created and for all things crafty visit craftden.

Art makes the heart happy!

Over at frilly and funkie the challenge is inspired by a photo..i have to admit
I started this challenge with some trepidation
as I would never have put these colours together and yet.
..I am pleased with the result! A lesson to me somewhere!
So here is my ....yes you guessed tag!
and the inspiration photo is:
I started by smooshing..technical term...squeezed lemonade and peacock feathers distress ink
from the spring set onto my craft mat, spritzing and splurging tag in,
drying and  until happy!! I love this Tim technique...
and when totally dry edged with peacock feathers, ..ink not real feathers!!..now there's an idea!?!
The heart is from Wendy as are the words...
And the wings is a Tim die cut, from grungepaper..
.covered in picket fence crackle paint..then I had to be patient...when dry I added some DI .
to finish I added some metal texture with mini attacher..
.and some ribbon, coloured with DI and some idea-ology!

tick tock goes the clock!

well it is challenge time over and the stampman and the theme is time/ travel..so i decided to do...a
3-d piece using arts parts and I know this will come as a shock..but i used brown and none other than vintage photo. so here it is :
talking about time, don't know where the time goes..1 minute it is Friday night and the next it is Sunday night.. i am sure the week does not go that fast!!!
I decided to make a 3-d piece and started by using these fab arts parts spools, which i coloured in vintage photo and stamped with clocks from a new sheet of paperartsy stamps..to give clock detail. To go round the spindle part i used the stamp and rolled the arts part across it.I then used a pocket watch stamp and matching part from the artistic stamper to make the pocket watch in the centre of top piece, added some glossy accents to the face and some idea-ology spinners.
The sentiment is from there too, i added this onto some clearly for art and attached behind the clock/pocket watch.
Finally i added lots of mini clock charms, chain and ide-ology goodies!!
let me know what you think..it didn't quite turn out as it did in my head!?!
thanks for stopping by i appreciate your visits and all your lovely comments!!!

there are some people who are amazing at girly and pink creations and that is so not me, but i had a go and ..well that's it ...i tried! the background was coloured with, yes you guessed DI and over stamped with some distress powder , i love the texture this gives..so touchy feely!
The heart was inked and then covered in rock candy ..love this stuff!!! and then i added some floral trim coloured with distress stain...fab stuff!!!. to complete i added the sentiment and some pearls! All the stamps are from Wendy vecchi.

tissue tape, reinker sprays and journal pages.,just for the love of it!

Hi there,
Well here I am and it is not a tag, but another journal page..no 3 and counting!
I made this a while back.
So this one was made using sprays made from
distress reinkers, tissue tape ,dylusions, distress inks
and some dylusions sprays to paint leaves...so it is:

I am enjoying the just making and playing and just for me,
the satisfying thing is that even with only a few pages , i already love my book..of me,
my art , not perfect, not always great but just me playing for the love of it!
There is no pressure and i am just enjoying the journey!!

So this page started with tissue tape, making sprays in mini misters
from re inkers and then using stencils, snow cap dabber and more.
Then added dylusions stamps and much more..

I added a heart shape covered with tissue tape and a house stamp.
I added some mini brads for handles and some glossy accents to the windows. The background images were painted with melted chocolate and
vibrant turquoise dylusions sprays as these stood out!
I am pleased with my little experiment and play with reinkers sprays.

A steampunk frame for Simon says...a bit of brown

Hey there bloggers,
Well the horrible virus that has stopped craftyplay and blogging fun is hopefully on the run!!!
away from me and fingers crossed the rest of the family!and evryone else!
So still with a sore throat but shivers gone
here is my offering for Simon says this week:

The theme is a little bit of brown....and you know I love my brown distress inks so..
what else would I add but a little bit of broken china....
I started by covering my frame in tissue tape and colouring with...vintage photo DI
The background piece was cut from the destinations stack
and coloured with DI and then used flick and spritz technique....
got a bit carried away...can you tell?!!

I added lots of on the edge die cut cogs, coloured in broken china,
added clear embossing powder and tapped and smudged a lot off, heated and then coloured again with vintage photo and walnut stain...
a bit like rusted enamel from the master himself Tim,
but I did smudge a lot off....
The weathered clock die was done in the same way and two of the hands.

The other elements are hands coloured with distress and mine
were too..thanks goodness for my craft scrubbie..I them added lots
of yummy idea-ology...ooh
and some old watch parts in the little bottles..

I love the sentiment..and definitely enjoyed
my crafty play with this one!! but then there is nothing like some crafty play
to make me smile!!the inkier the better!
I hope to catch up with all my friends today, if not tomorrow!
I love my little place in blogland and
have missed being here!
Let me know what you think and
hope you have all been having a good week!
