wired for dragons dream TIO DT make

well is is time for another yummy recipe from dragons dream...and thankfully for me no cooking is required, as that could be nasty! (cooking is so not my forte so these kind of recipes are the ones I love!). So this fortnight the recipe is ..yellow, wires and light bulb. You must use at least one real stamp and make a tag...so have fun...
here is mine:

Now wire I love...and light bulbs ..cool but yellow and me are not the greatest of friends ..and yet I am so pleased to say I actually like my yellow tag! I started by embossing that tag with embossing folder and then colouring...with mustard seed distress. yikes! Then I covered in clear embossing powder and tapped some off, heated and then ribbed over with black soot....( if you ever need a lemon peel effect...this may be it.!)  I then set to work with the fab Blueprints lightbulb and added some wire for the filament.

The bulb itself was painted with waterbrush and mustard seed distress ink. I edged the torn section with a little black soot. Then onto lots of yummy idea-ology goodness...mini gears..have a bit of a thing for these!!

Then a light bulb, some more twirls of wire, a number plaquette, more gears and mini gears and a number stapled ...as I love that effect...

well make sure you pop across to dragons dream to see all the fab team mates pieces and maybe drop in a make yourself!

have a  fun and inky day!

live life in colour for Creative Expressions DT

well here I am with my make for Creative expressions this week, and this time we have some great flowers to play with.. from hearfelt creations...they can be found here and here...so I decided to try something different for me...you can be the judge of if that paid off..so here is my make this week:

I started with some small wooden blocks and painted with mushroom eco paint. I then stamped parts of the block using bubble wrap background stamp inked with broken china.

Now onto the flowers...I started with lots of distress paints smooshed onto mat and card swiped through in colours to make lots of coloured pieces then when dried I stamped the flowers in archival black ink. These were then glued to grungepaper and cut out...not sure all the gorgeous painty backgrounds show...but hey ho! Then I set to cracking out my melt pot filled with clear UTEE.
This makes the flowers look yummy and helps to hold their shape and keeps them stronger.

I added little washers for centres....the hard part attaching to the block....and one of those...Why am I doing this moments!? Anyway they got on in the end..but overall they are ok but wish I had used these yummy flowers somehow else!

The sentiments are from art sayings.

Well I will be back next week with another make
have a fun and inky one!

inspired by Jenny aka Buttons......

Well here I am today with a make I made a while back inspired by the lovely Jenny aka Buttons, whose wonderful blog can be found here. The techniques I used here are inspired by this post here, the Friday Focus for Frilly and Funkie. There is lots of great Friday Focus projects that focus on all sorts of different products and some great inspiration. So this one is inspired by Jenny :

I started by using all the techniques detailed by Jenny on some card . I then cut this up to cover the pocket envelope. I love how this highlights the textures. make sure you pop here for all the details.

I love hearts and so I added a heart cut using the movers and shapers heart die and then added ink and a good coating of rock candy. Some wings, a twirl of wire and a chit chat sticker and the envelope is finished.

To place inside the pocket envelope I made an atc in coordinating colours using the distress paints and some small pieces of the paper used to cover the envelope.

This heart was again cut from the movers and shapers die and has wings and wire, but was covered with texture paste through sequin waste  and then coloured with inks . the background was done using distress paints .

believe in yourself...for creative expressions DT

well here I am with my make for Creative Expressions and this time I have gone for softer feel for this fab steampunk dressform , which is one of the new singles stamps...which can be found here. So here is my make for this week...and hold onto your hats...it's a card!

I started by creating the background for the card using a stencil and some white studio 490 embossing paste, this stuff is fab! (a similar stencil to the one I have used can be found here). When dry I added distress inks in broken china, weathered wood and frayed burlap....I have fallen so in love with these colours at the moment! When dry a bit of a spritz of water and dry , as this gives  a lovely effect.

The image was stamped in weathered wood distress ink and then clear embossed before tearing out.  I then applied the same inks around this image and spritzed with water.

When dry I edged the image with the yummy new gilding wax in pearl moon...this is yummy and smells pretty good too!?! The sentiment was treated in the same way and comes from the jam packed wordy set..art sayings.

I took some white flowers and made my own spray using stormy sky re-inker and water in a mini mister bottle and spritzed them. Then I added some frayed burlap distress ink when dry and then some of the pearl moon gilding wax. Some twirls of wire and the flower stems twirled and some lovely crochet ribbon that's it!

well hope you like my make for this week..

have a fun and inky one!

just hanging around ...

well another weekend bites the dust! It has been a hard week but James managed four mornings ..this week is going to be hard for him as today all his friends are off on a week long residential trip and James has been told he is not up to going! To say he is devastated is an understatement! Thanks to everyone ... for their thoughts..means a lot. (So James is at home this week, doing his school work.)

So onto craftiness ... I made this hanging last weekend and it is another play with an old amazon cardboard box, which I cut a panel off and here is my make :

I started by pulling off some areas of the card and the covering the whole piece with gesso. I then applied some texture paste through the art is.. text stencil..one of my favourites! When dry I applied distress ink in frayed burlap, weathered wood and broken china.
Once dry I added some white fire treasure gold.

The image a gorgeous Artistic Outpost one was stamped with weathered wood and clear embossed as I wanted it to almost fade into its surroundings. I then coloured with distress inks and flicked with water.

The sentiment is also an Artistic Outspost stamp from think and wonder set.

I added some crochet lace and flowers which have been sprayed with a homemade stormy sky spray, and then perfect pearls.

Some twirls of wire and there you have it!

I am entering this for the following competitions:

more butterflies for countryviewchallenges DT piece 2

well there is still plenty of time to join in all the butterfly fun over at country view crafts challenge site and the theme this month set by the lovely Gabrielle is butterflies. So here is my second make for the month and my first can be found here.

So here it is :

I started by cutting the bottom off from a large tag using the torn edge from the on the edge die. I added some embossed card using the music script embossing folder to the missing piece ..hope that makes sense. I coloured the embossed pieces with black soot distress ink and also coloured up a couple of torn pieces to add to the finished tag.

The background for the tag was made using the new distress paint ( picket fence ) and distress stain in pumice stone. I added to craft sheet, spritzed and smooshed tag into it! Then I heat dried and edged with black soot distress ink.

I over stamped the background with the text script from the attic treasures set. I covered some grungepaper in an old book page and die cut a bird cage which I edged with black soot.

To complete I added butterflies from the papillon set stamped in black archival, long fastners, more idea-ology and the sentiment stamped from simple sayings set. A pen nib and some twirls of wire complete my second make ...make sure you pop across during the month as there will be more Dt inspiration to come...

have a fun and inky day!

simon says ...inspired by water

well it a while since I have played due to my hand and other stuff..but I have been lucky enough to have a bit of playtime and inspired by the fun I had creating on corrugate dcard from an old box..i had another go for simonsaysstampand shows water theme .
so here is my make :

I started with a piece of corrugated box, cut and pulled some of the top layer off to reveal some of the corrugated texture. I then covered with a layer of slightly watered down gesso and then when dry applied studio 490 white embossing paste through the great mini confetti stencil.

If you look closely you can see little hearts in between the splats. Then onto the watery stuff. I spritzed the background with dylusions sprays in vibrant turquoise, calypso teal and white linen and lots of water and dripping later I was happy.

I then lay the stencil on in reverse and spritzed water through and then after a few seconds dabbed off to reveal white.

Hope you can see that? Then I edged with treasure gold in pewter. The heart was cut from corrugated card and painted with gesso, then I added some embossing paste. final this too was sprayed, watered and rubbed with treasure gold and a little twirl of wire.

Finally I added the sentiement from unity stamps..and some wire to hang it. I used lots of water in the making of this and somehow it has a kind of watery look to the finished piece..not that I planned that when I started!

one last picture..

feeling blue

well life has been and still is a little bumpy but my hand has appreciated the rest and is still improving albeit slower than I would like!! my missing mojo was last seen lurking under the desk, sulking in the corner..and finally James hospital appointment is next week so fingers crossed some good will come...

thanks to everyone who has been so utterly kind and sweet it means a lot!!

so there is a whistle stop tour and here I am ..with my blue make for the first indigo blu challenge all details here.... talk about last minute .com!

I decided to have a go at a hanging inspired by the super talented Alison aka buttefly in parts..as I ,ove her use of corrugated cardstock and decided to recyle a piece of a box from my latest goodies from the lovely Linda from funkiejunkieboutique, so hope Linda likes what I have done with her box... I need some playtime with the fab new goodies now!

so here is my make :

the theme is to use blue and only indigo blu stamps and I used grand tour 2 set. I started by cutting a piece from my box and removing patches of the cardstock from the surface. I then covered in gesso and left to dry..honest I really did !

then I coloured the background using Paperartsy mermaid paint mixed with gesso. When dry I layered broken china and faded jeans ink. In patches I added deco art two step crackle and then inked faded jeans into the crackles. I applied some wendy vecchi embossing paste in silver through a stencil to create texture and then added sapphire and pewter treasure gold..

The beautiful butterflies were inked in black archival, as were the words and wonderful sentiment.

I then painted the butterflies with distress markers and a waterbrush and spritzed with perfect pearls.

Finally some wire, rude not to eh?, and some little bottles for the butterflies bodies.

Hopefully you haven't forgotten me and like my make .. chuffed that I made this from a box that would have been thrown . had so much fun and am sure there will be more of these to come!
