hanging tough for creative expressions DT

sorry for the title... today I have a simple hanging as life has been a little tough here of late..so hence lack of posts and slower comments... SORRY!
Anyway here is my make for Creative Expressions this week using one of the new stamps to die for , designed to coordinate with spellbinders dies..however I have used my stamp differently.

So here it is :

The stamp I started with can be found here... and is called Jewelled frame, they come pre cut and mounted so are ready to go! I decided to show how just small parts of these stamps can be inked up to create great stamped effects.

I started with a rectangle frame and base art part which I painted with sand eco paint mixed with gesso . Then I use a fab Hels scraped paint technique and scraped paint across the surface. I used white paint and sand and bronze eco paint . On the frame part I coloured with vintage photo distress  ink when dry.

On the base piece I inked up the stamp using the fab new distress paints in picket fence and stamped randomly.

On the frame piece I stamped in antique linen distress paint and then when dry , used a tiny piece inked in coffee archival to just the corners.

I then glued the frame and base together using the fab cosmic shimmer glue. Then when dry and believe me this doesn't take long .. I painted the side parts in bronze eco paint. When dry I then added a smidge of the new gilding wax and these are yummy, this one is pearl moon.. and I now need them all...!

To complete the piece I made some roses using spellbinders spiral blossom 3 die.. my first spellbinders!! from paper I had scraped paint on.. and then added some gilding wax to the petals.

Some twirls of rusty wire and a sentiment from the fab Sam Poole set art sayings and the piece is complete.

well a simple make today, hope you like it.. next week I am going to be back with two very different makes using one stamp and a tutorial.. hope to see you then

have a fun and inky day

I won top talent thursday for our creative corner

well I am so chuffed to have been chosen as the top talent for Top Talent Thursday over at Our Creative Corner. I was lucky enough to be chosen for my purple and silver entry and invited to be their top talent..so if you want to find out a bit more about me please hop across here and see my answers to some questions and the project I have created.
I am really proud to have been chosen as their have been some amazing top talents before me and some wonderful talents on the design team.

So I decided, as I could make anything I wanted to go down my much loved and adored steampunk route, so here is my make :

I started with some arts parts, namely the frame and base for the frame , I added some texture paste through a cog stencil in the corners, painted with verday paint, when dry I sponged more paint on, sprayed the solution and waited for the magic to happen..

Then came the fun bit of decorating and filling the sections.. I started with some favourite stamps warehouse district from Tim Holtz I love this hand and use it lots and the sentiment ( stamped in black archival and given the distress treatment! oh I love distress!) is one to remember .. I added part of a hitch fastener to the hand, a twist of rusty wire, some cogs and spinners..

and these steampunk guys are one of my all time favourites! I added more cogs, a chit chat sticker, pen nib, more twists of rusty wire, and then some fab goodies my dad gave me from his garage!! thanks Dad!x  I added layers of distress ink to the image and then removed colour from the faces using a waterbrush and a touch of glossy accents for their hats. I love all the different textures and elements I could add to this ..it was great fun!

and I also added this fab thingamajig sentiment from creative expressions vintage inventor ..there are three plates in this series and I love them all
I added plenty of idea-ology and even rusted a watch face using distress embossing powders, oh and this fab rusty spring..again thanks Dad!

I made a little shelf and sat idea-ology bottles full of old watch parts on it.

I added lots more goodies, including a fab rusty heart, more rusty wire, chit chat stickers and some propellers  (again a creative expressions product) which were painted with the same paint. Also lots more goodies from my Dad.

Thanks again to the lovely ladies for choosing me and allowing me to roam free and I cannot tell you how much fun I have making this piece , hope that comes across and for once I love the finished result!

a dream is a wish your heart makes

Well here I am better late than never..been a busy weekend as James, (just turned 10 son) has been poorly all weekend and his temperature is still through the roof! Oliver , bless him has gone off to school, happily as there is snow to play with!!!
So in between nursing duties and looking after Lucy I am trying to add this post!! I wanted to have a play with some more fresco paints..and texture paste and new antiquities stencil..so here is the result not perfect but I did have fun!

I started with a large square arts part and added a layer of iced coffee paperartsy paint, then added some fresco through antiquities stencil...then when dry added more layers of iced coffee and a bit of french roast..
When dry I edged with oxynite and white fire treasure gold..loving this stuff and also highlighted lots of raised areas with it, believe me its yummy stuff!!!

The letters , cut from word play die were sponged with paint and some treasure gold added.

The wing die cuts, well every self respecting heart needs wings were die cut, covered with ferro texture in a rough fashion, then when dry I added white fire treasure gold.

The heart arts part was covered with French roast paint and then I added some crackle glaze, left to dry and then covered with nougat..when dry I edged lightly with walnut stain.

Finally, you know me and wire I added some rusty wire..

I am entering this for the following competitions:

simons says ...one for the girls..

well one for the girls ..was so not me..
i am having a grunge kind of feel to my makes so this really put the pressure on...
so this is as girly as i could get today...

i started with a selection of wendy vecchi arts parts, some distress inks and off i went...

i coloured all the arts parts with blue distress, spritzed with perfect pearls,
dried then added picket fence from my craft may mixed with DI,
dried then added dusty concord DI.

Once all the spools had been put together ,
I added flowers made from Tims tattered floral die, bottles ,

a wendy vecchi arts part pocket watch..coloured in same way
and some butteflies..stamped onto grungepaper
and then cleary for art layer added.

i tried to add detail to the back so that
the piece looked good from behind too..

Dream a little dream...

Some dreamy play with new stamps and arts parts...makes me happy!
So here is me, indulging myself and playing with no idea where i will end up...so here is where it ended:

I have hung my nose over this set of stamps for some time and sold some old stash to
pay for it! I started by inking some arts parts with DI, drying between each layer of colour.
Then when dry I added the number strip  in DI,
dried and then added the same strip in DI and embossed on back and across frame front.
The main man image is layered with DI coloured parts, manila face, and ranger foil crown
and to give more depth to wings I used clearly for art...

The dream was stamped in archival ink, coloured with DI and a layer of
fab rock candy added! I love this stuff...

To complete some idea-ology...and voila..my dreamy piece was done...no where near where I thought it may end..but a fun one the less!!!
Let me know what you think...we all need to dream sometimes?!right?!

A pocketful of petals.

well over at Sunday stampers Hels really set us a challenge this week, being pockets!!yikes it I thought..so here is my pocket..full of petals...
I made my pocket using a small envelope covered in manilla card , so I could ink it and filling it full of flowers!

I distressed a frame..not sure where from sorry! The inside is kraft paper , coloured with picket fence and then DI.I wanted to keep to a vintage, neutral palette. I added flowers cut from sticky back canvas and clearly for art.. Using ....Wendy vecchi set.The spots are made using mini dot background from the artistic stamper. I added idea-ology cogs for centres...cannot help myself..think I am developing a cog obsession!!!!!

The stems are arts parts, as is the scalloped shelf, the roses a made from Tim papers using tattered floral overs and shapers die and a word band..(.love these) for good measure.
This was a challenge , I have to say and yet I Like my pocket full of petals!!!!and would never have made this if it had not have been for Hels!!!thanks.

tick tock goes the clock!

well it is challenge time over and the stampman and the theme is time/ travel..so i decided to do...a
3-d piece using arts parts and I know this will come as a shock..but i used brown and none other than vintage photo. so here it is :
talking about time, don't know where the time goes..1 minute it is Friday night and the next it is Sunday night.. i am sure the week does not go that fast!!!
I decided to make a 3-d piece and started by using these fab arts parts spools, which i coloured in vintage photo and stamped with clocks from a new sheet of paperartsy stamps..to give clock detail. To go round the spindle part i used the stamp and rolled the arts part across it.I then used a pocket watch stamp and matching part from the artistic stamper to make the pocket watch in the centre of top piece, added some glossy accents to the face and some idea-ology spinners.
The sentiment is from there too, i added this onto some clearly for art and attached behind the clock/pocket watch.
Finally i added lots of mini clock charms, chain and ide-ology goodies!!
let me know what you think..it didn't quite turn out as it did in my head!?!
thanks for stopping by i appreciate your visits and all your lovely comments!!!
