Springtime in Paris- for A Vintage Journey

Well it is time for a new challenge over at A Vintage Journey and our talented host this time is Astrid. The theme for her challenge is A Little Bit French.  I decided to go for Springtime in Paris and for me that  evokes feelings of romance and what better excuse that to have a play with some new goodies to create a collage style piece, using soft colours and hopefully a hint of vintage romance.

So here is my make : ( I have now added wire to the top to turn into hanging)

So I started by covering the base in some of my much loved  paper from French Industrial paper stack..oh wow I need more! I used a piece with the Eiffel Tower on and then trimmed and edged with walnut stain DI.

I mean the paper is cool by itself! but inspired by Kaz Hall's wonderful layered pieces I went for it...I started by creating some stamped tags that will form part of the background...

and I also took apart a mini cabinet card and scuffed it up, using my sanding block. I added a photo from Tims found relatives and trimmed off the side to use as another layer.

so for the base layers :

I added some trellis framework die, die cuts (oh I love these framework dies), some ephemera and also the stamped tags, layering up I also added the leftover part of the found relative card as the backs are fab too.
I added a quote stamped from new stamp set and added some more idea-ology, film strip, tissue tape and a word band.

Make sure you pop by to see the rest of the teams makes, you will not be disappointed , they are amazing!

tick tock.. for Frilly and Funkie DT

Well it is mid time for the new challenge over at Frilly and Funkie, which has been chosen by the lovely and talented Nancy. The details of the challenge are here from Nancy :

Hello to all! Nancy here, and this week I'm hosting the challenge for my very first time! I suppose I'm dating myself with the title of the challenge, a throwback to the fabulous 80's when Cyndi Lauper topped the charts. Your mission is to create a project using clocks and time as your theme. The winner will earn a Guest DT spot here at Frilly and Funkie, and everyone who enters will have the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique!

So here is my make :
I am still loving playing with layers so that's what happened with this tag...lots of layers and playing so here's how ...
So for the base part, I used lots of stains....and then added some trellis die cut, from black kraft core and then sanded gently to reveal some of the core. I then added this to the background. I also cut the same die from patterned clock paper from Tim paper stack and used these to fill in the gaps.
I wanted to do another double layered tag, so i took a #8 tag , covered in book paper and then lots of stains. I then added some picket fence crackle paint, tissue tape (calendars so more time related elements) and some distress ink. Finally I used some of the left over paper , from trellis die cut to top the tag with...waste not want not!
Then I added a piece of journalling ticket and some pieces of weathered clock die. I added rock candy to the clock die and when dry added walnut stain and heated . I added some of the die to the bottom and some to the top and also saved the hands to add later.x
Now for the details, the rain man , die cut from black card and covered with some translucent Wendy vecchi paste. Lots of idea-ology and also a time quote.
Here are a few close ups...more idea-ology...
I finished the top with some dyed seam binding..
Make sure you hop across here to see all my fab team mates makes and there is still time to play along .
